Walking in the rain and in the sunshine…

Yesterday, August 9th, I woke up with only minor muscle pain after my wild hiking adventure on Stage 69 of the Red Trail of the Via Alpina the day before: from Taufers i.M. over the Rifair Scharte and the Glurnser Köpfl back to Glurns and Mals. That morning I have just taken a picture of the Glurnser Köpfl in the morning sun…! Continue reading

Orchards and blocks of white marble

Yesterday, Tuesday August 6th, I have made a short walk through Mals to Laatsch in the west and further on to Glurns. That was despite of the rain quite interesting – I will come back to it later.

Today the day started promising with the morning sun shining on the Ortler. That wouldn’t stay for long, unfortunately… Continue reading

I took a quiet day as to outdoor activities: I just focussed on Slovenia and her recent history. The country has been allotted to ever changing coalitions… Continue reading

A walk through town and countryside in the Vinschgau

After again an elaborate breakfast with a. o. aniseed bread, this time with apricot jam, and apple cake, I started out at half past nine. Although I initially had planned to go by Postal car to Taufers in the Val Müstair Valley for Stage 69 of the Red Trail of the Via Alpina, I changed my mind: very high temperatures were forecasted and I didn’t like the idea to go for a hike of over 6½ hours with ascents of 1.000 metres of difference in altitude. But I still liked to hike anyway! Continue reading

Fruit, old houses and a war memorial

This morning I started off without a fixed plan once again, but I had a destination however: a building of which I supposed that it was a war memorial, because an Italian flag was flying. It is situated alongside the main road from the Reschen Pass to Mals. I passed this building already many times, when I took the bus to Switzerland. Continue reading
